Motorola recently confirmed to Android Authority that the Motorola ThinkPhone 25 will not be available in the US market. However, the company has announced that the device will be available in various international regions, including Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Australia, and Asia. This new device continues the ThinkPhone legacy but comes with a few changes and upgrades aimed at offering a more affordable yet capable smartphone experience.

Motorola ThinkPhone 25 Price and Availability

Motorola has revealed pricing details for the Motorola ThinkPhone 25 in Europe and the UK. The device will be priced at €499 (~$552) in Europe and £450 (~$598) in the UK. In comparison, the original ThinkPhone was priced significantly higher, with a US price tag of $700 and a European price of €999 (~$1,105). The Motorola ThinkPhone 25 comes in at a much lower price, making it a more budget-friendly option for users outside the US.

Key Differences from the Original Motorola ThinkPhone 25

The original ThinkPhone, launched over a year ago, was designed primarily for business professionals, with a sleek, ThinkPad-inspired design and a set of features focused on productivity. The Motorola ThinkPhone 25, while maintaining the business-oriented focus, introduces a smaller, sharper, and brighter display. The new phone features a 6.36-inch screen with a 2,670 x 1,220 resolution and 3,000 nits of peak brightness, offering significantly improved display quality over the original ThinkPhone’s 6.6-inch, 1080p screen with 1,200 nits of brightness.

Although the Motorola ThinkPhone 25 has a slightly lower 120Hz refresh rate compared to the original’s 144Hz, the smaller size and better display quality make it a more pocket-friendly and visually impressive option. The Motorola ThinkPhone 25 also retains the durable design of the original model, featuring an Aramid fiber cover on the back, which now extends to the camera housing. However, one notable change is the downgrade in front screen protection from Gorilla Glass Victus to Gorilla Glass 7i, which may not offer the same level of durability.

Motorola ThinkPhone 25 : Performance and Battery

In terms of performance, the Motorola ThinkPhone 25 takes a step down from its predecessor. Instead of the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset, this new model is powered by a mid-range MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor. While this might not be as powerful, it still offers solid performance for everyday tasks. The phone is equipped with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, which is more than sufficient for most users.

The battery capacity also sees a reduction, with the Motorola ThinkPhone 25 packing a 4,310mAh battery compared to the original model’s 5,000mAh. Despite the smaller battery, the phone continues to support 68W wired charging and 15W wireless charging, ensuring fast and convenient charging options for users on the go.

Motorola ThinkPhone 25 : Camera Upgrades

One of the major improvements in the Motorola ThinkPhone 25 comes in the camera department. The phone retains the same 50MP main camera and 13MP ultra-wide lens with macro support from the original model. However, Motorola has replaced the 2MP depth sensor with a 10MP 3x telephoto camera, significantly enhancing the zoom capabilities of the device. This telephoto lens allows for better close-up shots and improved overall camera performance. On the front, the Motorola ThinkPhone 25 sports a 32MP selfie camera housed in a punch-hole cutout, delivering high-quality selfies and video calls.

Motorola ThinkPhone 25 : Software and Other Features

Motorola is promising long-term support for the Motorola ThinkPhone 25, with the company committing to five years of Android OS and security updates. Although this doesn’t quite match the update policies of competitors like Google and Samsung, it ensures that the phone will remain up-to-date until 2029.

Other notable features of the Motorola ThinkPhone 25 include an in-display fingerprint sensor, an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, and MIL-STD 810H certification for durability. The phone also comes with a bundled 68W charger, making it ready to go right out of the box.

Conclusion

While the ThinkPhone 25 may not be available in the US, it brings a mix of notable upgrades and downgrades, catering to users in regions like Europe and Asia. With its smaller but sharper display, improved camera system, and more affordable price tag, the ThinkPhone 25 continues the legacy of the ThinkPhone line, offering a strong option for business users and everyday consumers alike.
