iPhone’s 4 Emergency Features you must know about
Apple provides fall detection and emergency SOS features to help in real-life emergencies, and enabling these features requires a few simple tips.
Apple devices are advanced technologies that enhance the on-device experience and aid in real-life situations. iPhones and Apple Watches have integrated features such as fall detection, emergency SOS, high and low heart rate detection, and ECG. However, these features require proper usage and memorizing. To ensure their effectiveness, users must be familiar with these features. This article will explore four emergency features on iPhone and iWatch that are helpful in real-life scenarios. Memorizing these features can prove invaluable in the future.
Emergency SOS via satellite
Apple offers an emergency SOS via satellite feature that requires an iPhone 14 or 15 to receive help with an emergency message, even without cellular or WiFi connection. Users can test the feature in a demo to familiarize themselves with it before real-life scenarios.
Crash detection
Apple has introduced automatic emergency calls for iPhone 14 and later, Apple Watch Series 8 and later, Apple Watch SE gen 2, and Apple Watch Ultra and later. This feature allows devices to automatically call emergency services in a car crash, starting a countdown and sounding an alarm. However, these devices cannot detect all crashes.
Emergency contacts
Users can set up emergency contacts in their iPhone or Apple Watch by going to Settings, searching for Emergency SOS, and selecting Edit Emergency Contacts in Health. The Health app will open a window showing Medical ID, allowing users to edit or add emergency contacts. When emergency SOS calls are placed, the iPhone or Apple Watch will send a message to the designated contacts.
Emergency SOS
Emergency SOS allows users to quickly call for help and alert emergency contacts. The iPhone automatically calls the local emergency number and shares location with emergency services. In India, pressing the side button three times takes the user to emergency services.
To dial an emergency call, press and hold the side button and volume button for a few seconds, then swipe the Emergency SOS slider to the right. Alternatively, press and hold the side button and volume button until the countdown begins and the SOS call is placed.
