Infinix Note 40x 5g Mobile Review is it Worth or Not
The Infinix NOTE 40X 5G boasts 256 GB of UFS 2.2 storage, surpassing competitors' 128 GB storage. Its RAM ranges from 8 GB to 12 GB, making it a standout choice for its impressive performance.
The Infinix Note 40X 5G is a budget-friendly device powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, featuring a 5,000 mAh battery and 18W fast charging. This review explores its design, display, performance, and software, deciding whether it’s worth purchasing for extra storage or other features.
Infinix NOTE 40X 5G Review – Design & Build
The Infinix NOTE 40X 5G bears a striking resemblance to the iPhone 15 Pro, particularly in its camera island. Although it appears to have a triple camera setup, it is not a true triple setup.
The phone features an Infinix logo on the bottom left, a punch-hole display with uneven bezels, a power button and volume rockers on the right, a secondary speaker on top, and a headphone jack, microphone, USB 2.0 Type-C port, and primary speaker at the bottom.
The phone features a SIM tray on the left side that can hold two nano-SIM cards and a microSD card, allowing for up to 1 TB of storage. It’s made of plastic and comes in three colors: Palm Blue, Lime Green, and Starlit Black. The Starlit Black variant has a soft glass-like texture on the back and a glossy camera module.
The Infinix NOTE 40X features a fast, accurate side-mounted fingerprint scanner, IP52 protection against dust and water splashes, and offers connectivity options like 5G, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC.
The phone comes with a pre-installed screen protector, but its fit is not perfect due to water drop cutout and uneven placement.
Infinix NOTE 40X 5G Review – Display and Speakers
The Infinix NOTE 40X features a 6.7″ FHD+ LCD screen with a 120 Hz high refresh rate, although it’s not AMOLED. It has dynamic refresh modes, which switch between 60 Hz, 90 Hz, and 120 Hz. Auto-switch mode allows apps like Twitter, Telegram, Google, Amazon, and Chrome to run at 60 Hz, or 120 Hz when not in use to save power.
Infinix has introduced an interactive Dynamic Port for punch-hole cutouts, similar to the iPhone 15’s Dynamic Island. It offers features like timers, music, and face unlock. The display has 500 Nits of brightness, but reading text in direct sunlight isn’t ideal, especially in 2024. An OLED display would have been better.
The display has an orangish tone with a slightly off saturation, and while you can adjust the warmth, there’s no option to change the color tone. Adjusting to a cooler tone is helpful, but it’s not ideal. Infinix needs to add a feature to adjust color tone, like switching from vivid to natural.
The Infinix NOTE 40X speakers are clear, focusing on lower frequencies, but can be loud but lack clarity.
Infinix NOTE 40X 5G Review - Software and Haptics
The Infinix NOTE 40X uses the XOS 14 skin on Android 14, with a promise of one year of OS updates. While it lacks fancy animations for app opening and closing, it’s not the best design or user experience. However, for its price, it’s not a dealbreaker. Infinix has done a decent job optimizing the software, but there’s room for improvement, especially in addressing app crashes or stop-response issues.
The device comes with 46 pre-installed apps such as AHA Games, Messenger, Instagram, Facebook, Palm Store, Visha Player, WPS Office, Snapchat, xClub, and xArena. Most can be uninstalled, and the UI is free of ads. The haptics are basic and not ideal for typing or other interactions. The software experience is standard for this price range.

The front camera performs similarly to the rear camera in daylight, offering good detail and sharpness but with saturation issues, low light selfies are usable but noisy.

The bokeh effect recording option is limited to 720p at 30 frames per second, with average edge detection. Low-light video quality is acceptable but not outstanding.
Infinix NOTE 40X 5G Review – Battery Life and Charging
The Infinix NOTE 40X offers an average of 7 to 8 hours of screen-on time on Wi-Fi or 5G, based on moderate usage like social media and document typing. It supports 18W fast charging and takes 2 hours and 20 minutes to fully charge from 0 to 100% using the included USB-A to USB-C charger. Despite a slightly slow charging speed, it’s within the expected range for this price range.
