WhatsApp allows users to link their phones to four different computers or phones, regardless of the device they choose, but the process for linking desktops and phones differs slightly.

How to set up multi-device support?

  • Connecting WhatsApp with laptop via web via QR code.
  • Windows applications can also be linked via this method.
  • Installing the app on a second phone is the main step.
  • After installation and agreeing to privacy policies, three dots in the upperright corner ask for phone number.
  • A dropdown menu opens with the option to link the phone as a companion device.
  • After selecting this option, scan the QR code.
  • Limitations include not supporting live location and add status on companion phones.
  • Companion phones are logged out if primary phone usage is less than 14 days.
