Here is a short guide on how to block spam calls on Android Devices:

To block spam calls, register your number with the National Customer Preference Register (NCPR), formerly known as the National Do Not Call Registry (NDNC), which allows users to opt-out of receiving telemarketing calls.

Activating DND Service

  • Open SMS app, type “START” and send to 1909.
  • Receive categories with unique codes for blocking calls.
  • Respond with code for desired category.
  • Receive confirmation and DND service activates within 24 hours.
  • Blocks unsolicited commercial calls without affecting essential alerts.

Activate DND service by telecom operators

Activating DND Services via Telecom Providers

  • Jio: Go to MyJio app, select categories to block.
  • Airtel: Visit airtel.in/airteldnd, enter mobile number and OTP.
  • Vi (Vodafone Idea): Visit discover.vodafone.in/dnd, enter details.
  • BSNL: Send “start dnd” to 1909, select categories.

Manual Blocking of Spam Calls on Android Phone

  • Open Phone app, go to call history.
  • Tap and hold spam contact.
  • Select “Block” or “Report.”
  • Limitations due to frequent number changes.

Filtering Calls From Unknown Numbers

  • Open Phone app.
  • Tap menu icon.
  • Go to Settings.
  • Select “Caller ID & Spam.”
  • Toggle “Filter spam calls” and “See caller & spam ID.”
  • Silence calls from noncontact numbers.
