Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL Excluded from December Feature Drop
The Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL have officially reached their end of life status after three years of updates. Google promised one last update for the devices, which is currently rolling out and includes patches from both November and December as part of its final release.
Currently, only factory images are available for manual installations, and the OTA update has not been released for the devices. Checking for updates through Settings will show that regular updates have ended, but this will change to ‘Check for updates’ once the update is rolled out.
The last build is the RP1A.201005.004.A1 for both devices, and there’s only one version for all carriers:
– Pixel 2 XL: Android 11 — RP1A.201005.004.A1
– Pixel 2: Android 11 — RP1A.201005.004.A1
The latest update for Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL focuses on fixing Android 11 issues from the original launch, such as boot problems, call notification disablement, missing auto-rotate icon, and undetected overview swipe gestures. However, these devices will not receive the December Pixel Feature Drop, which is exclusive to Pixel 3 and newer models.
