Cygnus Space apparatus Endures Error In Space Soon after Send off, NASA Bounces Into Harm Control
NASA’s Cygnus spacecraft, carrying 3,857 kg of goods to the International Space Station (ISS), experienced a glitch shortly after its launch on August 4. The capsule, which was carrying food and experiments for the 11 astronauts currently living at the station, missed its first in-orbit burn due to a late entry to burn sequencing. NASA has confirmed that the maneuver called ‘targeted altitude burn’ was aborted after Cygnus’s “shortly after the engine ignited due to a slightly low initial pressure state.”

Mission teams have noted that Cygnus is at a safe altitude and engineers are now planning a new burn and trajectory. Despite the setback, the teams hope to make the spacecraft rendezvous with the station at 12:40 pm on August 6. The cargo being transported by Cygnus includes food and experiments for the 11 astronauts currently living at the station.
The spacecraft will be captured by the Canadarm2 robotic arm at the station by NASA astronaut Matthew Dominick, with Jenette Epps as a backup. This robotic arm will be used to dock the spacecraft with the Unity module’s Earth-facing port. A new NASA study has revealed why scientists have been unable to detect any advanced alien civilizations yet.
