Indian Government Announces eSports Tournaments
The Indian Government has revealed plans for eSports tournaments featuring BGMI, eFootball, and WCC3. The first LAN event organized by the government will showcase BGMI in Goa, with teams from all over India eligible to register.
This initiative is part of the Create in India Challenge Season 1, encompassing 25 competitions in gaming, animation, music, and visual arts, reflecting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dedication to fostering the gaming and esports sector in India.
BGMI Tournament Platform for Players : As part of an initiative, the BGMI tournament offers players a platform to showcase their skills and compete for cash prizes and rewards. The tournament consists of online qualifiers conducted in four phases :-
- September 1 to 15
- September 18 to October 2
- October 4 to 19
- October 21 to November 4
Upcoming Esports Tournament in India
The top three teams from each qualifier, totaling 12 teams, will advance to the Grand Finals along with four international teams directly invited, making a total of 16 finalists. The tournament will take place in Goa from November 20 to 24, with the Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Grand Finals being streamed live on YouTube.
The Indian Government has not disclosed the names of the international teams invited, but the event is anticipated to garner substantial attention from gamers and elevate the esports landscape in India.
Indian Government Organizes First Esports Competition
The Indian Government is organizing its first esports competition, the 2023 BGMI Invitational, in collaboration with Krafton. The event featured top teams from India and Korea, with representatives from both governments in attendance. Krafton is also hosting the BMPS 2024 with a prize pool of Rs. 2 crore, scheduled to conclude in September in Kerala.
