Apple has recently launched its newest iPhones, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, equipped with the powerful A18 Pro chipset. This chipset is considered the brand’s most advanced mobile processor to date. However, there is anticipation and curiosity about how it will stack up against Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.

While details are based on speculations and reports as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 has not been officially released yet, the comparison is eagerly awaited by tech enthusiasts and consumers alike.

The Apple iPhone 16 Pro models were launched with the A18 Pro chipset, featuring a 6 core CPU, 6 core GPU, and a 16 core Neural Engine capable of 35 trillion operations per second. The GPU has a clock frequency of 1.45GHz with Ray Tracing support.

On the other hand, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is rumored to also be based on TSMC’s 3nm process, with two prime cores clocked at 4.37GHz and six efficiency cores at 2.78GHz. It may be paired with the Adreno 830 GPU with a clock frequency of 1.25GHz and Ray Tracing support.

Key Features of A18 Pro and Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Processors

The A18 Pro chipset in the Apple iPhone 16 Pro offers impressive performance with its 6 core CPU and GPU, along with a powerful Neural Engine. In comparison, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 from Qualcomm is expected to have higher clock speeds for its cores and GPU, potentially providing strong competition in terms of processing power and efficiency.

Both chipsets are based on TSMC’s 3nm process, indicating advancements in technology for mobile devices.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 achieved 2884 points in single core and 8840 points in multi core tests on GeekBench, running at 4.09GHz. Apple’s A18 Pro scored around 3500 points in single core and 8200 points in multi core tests, showing Qualcomm is approaching Apple in single core performance. The upcoming Qualcomm flagship chipset launch is anticipated for more performance updates.
